Days after purchasing the used motorhome… while staying in a town just east of Dallas, on a walk one afternoon, we saw a home-made lemonade stand with small bags of chips held to it with clothes-pins, and a note stating the price. Emotion welled up in me (Tamra), remembering having my own lemonade stand as a little girl!

I was so moved and encouraged to see a child being taught responsibility and good work ethic, that I knocked on the door. The grandmother answered the door, she was raising her two grandchildren (because the mother was into drugs). I encouraged the lady, complimented her on her good raising of the children, blessed her, prayed for her and the kids and the whole family.

When I was growing up, we did NOT get paid money to do chores. No! We got to live warm and dry under a roof, and food on the table, and we did OUR PART by doing chores. We learned GOOD WORK ETHIC! HALLELUJAH! AMEN! We were not spoiled. Not at all.

  • The kids did the dishes.
  • The kids weeded the gardens. (And we had multiple!)
  • The kids swept the kitchen floor after meals.
  • The kids helped create an expansion on the house, (digging a basement room, removing dirt, knocking down the THICK cistern wall, etc).
  • The kids shucked peas, froze corn, canned tomatoes, etc.

Also, when I was young (beginning around age 10) I had my own paper-route, EARLY in the mornings! EARLY! Even before the sun came up! (This included in rain or shine, snow or heat, delivering papers DAILY. Also collecting the money from the customers every month.) If I wanted to buy candy to eat, or any clothes that I did not NEED, I had to pay for them myself! AMEN! So, I worked.

I encouraged this woman to KEEP GOING! KEEP training these children to WORK and to not be lazy! AMEN! Yahweh’s ways are ALWAYS BEST! AMEN!

Also, Yahweh showed me to then share a bit of my journey as an older teen and as an adult, hardships in life but standing strong in the Scriptures, and offered the lady a book, KEEPING THE FAITH through the UN-thinkable…

She was SO grateful and SO encouraged! Her eyes welled up with tears. She shared a bit about her life, her hardships, her daughters, her grandchildren…

I encouraged her to remain STRONG in Yahweh, to learn to follow His leading and guiding, because as I learned life is SO MUCH EASIER when we follow His way and His advice! He sent His spirit FOR US… to guide us into ALL TRUTH! Let’s hear and heed!
